Mark encounters a feisty shingleback lizard on his first expedition to Western Australia! Unfortunately, the poor lizard is absolutely covered in blood sucking ticks…so Mark risks his fingers to try to remove them one by one. Will he take a bite while trying to help this blue tongue skink? He better hope so - because these armored lizards bite hard! In this video I share an easy and quick lasagna using moose ground meat. It is so delicious and yet so simple. I also continued on a task that required attention… it was hard work but I enjoyed it. I love the outdoors and I try to spend as much time out there regardless of the weather. Our nights are still dipping down to as much -20 C but spring is not far away. Our daytime weather is slowly reaching above 0 Celsius degrees and the maple sap will soon be running. I hope you all enjoy this video and I thank you for all your kindness and support! Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is an American national park that protects portions of the Brooks Range in northern Alaska. The park is the northernmost national park in the United States, situated entirely north of the Arctic Circle. The park is the second largest in the US, slightly larger in area than Belgium. Gates of the Arctic was initially designated as a national monument on December 1, 1978, before being redesignated as a national park and preserve upon passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980. A large part of the park has additional protection as the Gates of the Arctic Wilderness that adjoins the Noatak Wilderness. They form the largest contiguous wilderness in the United States together. Fauna include brown bears, black bears, muskoxen, moose, Dall sheep, timber wolves, wolverines, coyotes, lynxes, marmots, porcupines, river otters, red and Arctic fox species, beavers, snowshoe hares, muskrats, bald eagles, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, ospreys, great horned and northern hawk-owls. More than half a million caribou, including the Central Arctic, Western Arctic, Teshekpuk, and Porcupine herds, migrate through the central Brooks Range twice yearly, traveling north in summer, and south in winter. Caribou are important as a food source to native peoples. The park is the northernmost range limit for the Dall sheep. About 132 brown bears reside in the park and preserve, based on a density of about one bear per 100 square miles.

Enjoy! and stay tuned for the next episode of this series that’ll be dropping on Thursday at 7pm ET. The Yukon is a place where dreams are made and where adventurers have been going to follow their dreams since the Klondike gold rush in the 1880s. Jenna and David Jonas have spent most of their lives living off the land. At 17, David built a cabin in the woods of Vermont without power tools and lived there for two years, learning to track animals, identify trees, plants and birds, and to navigate. He’d paddled thousands of miles in hand-built birch bark canoes and lived for months off wild foods alone when he met his neighbor Jenna (she lived across the creek from his cabin in a “treehouse” dwelling), who’d been exploring the interior of Alaska for few years by boat, ski, dogsled, bike, and foot. In 2012, they found an ad on Craigslist for private land surrounded by state forest on a bluff above the Tanana River. They saw the potential for year-round food sources and bought the raw land, first living in a wall-tent. After two years on the land, they spent 3 weeks building a more permanent earthlodge: digging deep into the hill to take advantage of the relative warmth of the earth, using plentiful spruce trunks to line the home, covering it in sod for insulation and facing it due south for passive solar gain. Two years later, they began building a traditional log cabin using hand tools (such as a gin pole for a crane). It took them 3 years to complete (building only before freeze-up), but was ready in time for the arrival of their daughter. The couple hunt, forage or grow most all of their food. They built a smokehouse to cure the meat and fish, and an underground root cellar to preserve their produce and potatoes throughout the year. In 2014, they began to share their experience with others, using their experience as wilderness guides, they offer stays in their original earthlodge (the Sun Lodge) or in traditional handmade canvas wall tents for days of dog sledding, aurora viewing, winter camping, ice fishing, snowshoeing, skiing and crafting (making your own wooden spoons). Their goal is to offer guests at their hand-built wilderness homestead “a deeper, more authentic experience of Alaska, one that is not centered solely on sublime landscapes and plastic accouterments, but rather the real products, people, and lifeways that make our lives in the north rich and meaningful.” Alaska Homestead Adventures 🤍 Drone footage: Jeff Sousa 🤍 On *faircompanies: 🤍

Bloodworms are back. And this time, Mark's putting those razor sharp copper fangs to the test. Meet the world's only venomous worm species. Using their bizarre proboscis, bloodworms hunt by striking and envenomating unsuspecting prey with a paralyzing toxin. And guess what we learned since the last video? You can GRAB that proboscis! You know that that means... Mark ventures back into the mudflats of the Eastern Seaboard to dig up tons of these massive, creepy, bizarre, venomous worms... and take bite after bite after bite. Do bloodworms bite? Oh yeah they do. Do bloodworm bites hurt? You bet. Do bloodworms hunt in packs? Guess Mark will have to stick his hands into a giant tank full of bloodworms to find out... This episode is sponsored by Sting-Kill. In this episode, Coyote’s throwing a backyard barbecue when some uninvited guests show up. Enter: the paper wasp and bald-faced hornet. You may recognize these notorious party crashers from your own picnics and outdoor parties… In a never-before-seen double sting episode, Coyote puts Sting-Kill to the test against these Midwest backyard stingers, and determines once and for all who’s got the meaner sting. Ready for dessert? STUNG by a Giant European Hornet!: 🤍 At Brave Wilderness, when it comes to quickly soothing our itchy painful bug bites, nothing beats Sting-Kill. Voices, voices crying in the wilderness. Who are these voices crying in the wilderness? Who are these voices that are not being heard, and who put them in the wilderness? Who placed them there? They are those that are vaccine injured or unvaccinated and unable to work. Tens of thousands of Australians across Australia have been damaged. Even members in this house have quietly said to me on the side how they've been damaged. I pray that they speak out. It didn't escape me yesterday that it was the United Nations International Women's Day, which was celebrated by this parliament with a breakfast and an address by the Prime Minister. This unfolding health and social disaster is disproportionately affecting women, many of whom are not believed. They are told they're anxious and they're told that they are just being hysterical. Such a massive untruth for so many people I've spoken to. Why so many women? Because they're the ones who worked in the mandated workforce. Why so many young men? Young, fit, men, like Jacob, who I spoke to yesterday—disabled for the rest of his days is how it feels for him at the moment. Many of the women are self-employed, so no income means no compensation and no justice. Then, at the other end of the spectrum, there are people like Ben and Hayden in Perth. They're both tradies and semiprofessional sportsmen whose lives have been utterly ruined. Ben is about to lose his house because he can no longer afford to pay the mortgage. People are losing their jobs and homes; they're unemployed. That's now also including the carers of the injured. Jackie Stricker is reporting Lifeline calls are increasing through the roof, with people with no money and feeling sick. My office have talked to unemployed firefighters who haven't worked for 17 months. Why? Because they are not vaccinated. They are stood down, but without pay. Our people have lost hope. They've lost control of their lives, and we put them out there. The National Cabinet made these decisions and we are responsible because we are their elected members. The buck stops with us. We put these voices into the wilderness and it's up to us to call them back.
More progress work in the kitchen… it is slowly getting there. It won’t be too long now and the kitchen will be completed. It is still winter weather out here. This episode is sponsored by Chiggerex. In this episode, Coyote’s eaten alive by the world’s deadliest animal: the mosquito. Mosquito bites can leave behind much more than an itchy, swollen welt. These bloodsucking insects carry diseases responsible for more than 1,000,000 deaths each and every year. Is Coyote any match for 1000 of these notorious parasites? It’s time to put his forearm to the test. At Brave Wilderness, when it comes to quickly soothing our itchy painful bug bites, nothing beats Chiggerex. For over 50 years, their unique formula with active ingredient benzocaine, soothing aloe vera and red-reducing chamomile has helped generations of people find relief. Living off the land takes a lot of time, effort, experience and knowledge and this past year brought me a few steps closer to my goal of providing 90% of my food from hunting, fishing, foraging, growing, raising, cooking and preserving. Now that I have systems in place and good locations to gather from the wild and the garden, preserving food for long term off-grid storage is my next greatest challenge. Join me at my new homestead this year as a build a greenhouse, cabin, outdoor kitchen, sauna, outhouse and more. STING Merch - 🤍 Officially the craziest thing Coyote Peterson’s ever done: stick his arm into a box of 200 angry Yellowjackets. “Hey Coyote, will they still be angry at you if you stick your arm in the box after 15 minutes?” Yeah Coyote. Yeah they will. If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you stuck your arm in a Yellowjacket nest,... here’s your answer! You’re welcome. Honestly, how much do you think this man’s insurance plan costs? It’s downright ridiculous. Anyway… Coyote vs 200 YellowJackets. Guess what happens. IMPORTANT: Risk of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis is possible after receiving a sting from any stinging insect. Call 911 or other emergency services if you're having a serious reaction to an insect sting. Do not try this at home.
