After wearing the Tudor Pelagos for a week I noticed the 42mm wide case is actually 40.5mm wide, so it doesn't wear large, and the lightweight titanium case and bracelet aren't all that light. Which I think is a good thing. But I wanted the dust to settle to REALLY make up my mind in regards to how I feel about it ( i am totally one to get taken away by the hype train sometimes :-D). The Pelagos has some of the best tactile elements on a dive watch - bezel, crown and clasp. One of the best lume applications, as well as great materials throughout (Titanium and Ceramic). At Baselworld 2012, Tudor announced the Pelagos, the first watch to come from a Rolex company produced entirely in titanium. As a dive watch, the titanium case and bracelet are entirely functional, and indeed make perfect sense. It is also rated to 500 meters of water resistance, achieved in large part because of its helium escape valve, located at 9 o'clock on the case. It functions similarly to the automatic helium escape valve on the Rolex Sea-Dweller, and unlike those found on Omega's Seamasters. There are three versions of the Pelagos currently in production - a black, a blue, and then a black with the crown on the left hand side of the case called the "Left Hand Drive" or "LHD" for short, designed for left handed people, specifically. These colors match the overall tooly aesthetic of the watches, with matte, rather than glossy or sunburst finishes. Powered now by an in-house automatic movement, the watch was launched with an ETA originally, showing that improvements are the name of the game here. And then there's the clasp, which is spring loaded to allow for a more natural expansion of the bracelet to coincide with the wearer's wrist.

NEW Tudor FXD = UNDERWHELMING. TODAY at 5pm UK Time Tudor released the brand new black dial Pelagos FXD. Now, to call this "new" feels a bit of a leap. This is essentially the same as the previous version - except with a unidirectional bezel (dive watch purists rejoice!) and not in collaboration with Marine Nationale. Tudor Pelagos FXD is really a lot cooler than I initially gave it credit for. After being hands on with this watch for a week, I have truly been won over to this watch & I have fallen in love with it! The first few things that made me hesitant about it were: 1. The fixed lugs / spring bars 2. Only 200m Water Resistance vs the Pelagos 500m 3. Bi-directional bezel But honestly, since having some time to think on it, and letting the hype die down, and just being hands on with this piece - all of my hesitations slipped away and I've just fallen in love with it! Very charming, rugged and handsome watch. The 42mm is admitedly, a bit large for me. Probably the largest I could ever attempt! But ... It's just a cool watch!
