This is the Ukulele Orchestra's version of Wheatus' 'Teenage Dirtbag' (Trivial detail: they once performed this song with Wheetus themselves in Bangor, North Wales). On Tuesday 18th August 2009, with every seat and all standing room occupied, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain played to a sold-out Royal Albert Hall in London, with over 6000 audience members, and well over 1000 of them bringing ukuleles to join in with Beethoven's "Ode to Joy". This clip is taken from their DVD "Prom Night", The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain Live at the Royal Albert Hall BBC Proms 2009, made from filming on the night. The music played is: Puffin Billy (Edmund White, Great British Light Music Classic) Anarchy in the UK (The Sex Pistols) Ride of the Valkyries (Richard Wagner) Silver Machine (Hawkwind) Life on Mars (David Bowie) Thunderball (James Bond / John Barry) Teenage Dirtbag (Wheatus) Danse Macabre (Camille Saint-Saëns) Jerusalem (William Blake and Hubert Parry) Psycho Killer (Talking Heads) Ode to Joy (A fragment of Beethoven arranged for 1008 ukuleles) Pinball Wizard (The Who) The Dambusters March (Eric Coates) Melange (which reveals how all the key rock songs are variants of one theme) Wuthering Heights (Kate Bush) Book your tickets to see the Ukulele Orchestra live! 🤍 Support the Ukulele Orchestra with a donation 🤍 Head over to our Ukulele Lockdown page to find all the latest Lockdown content and music sheets! 🤍 - LINKS - Website: 🤍 Merch: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 TikTok: 🤍 Bandsintown: 🤍

Pluck and The World Plucks With You : a glimpse inside the world of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain A documentary, made in 2003 by John Gidley. It features interviews with the various performers on tour in Cumbria, Yorkshire and elsewhere, together with some "in the studio" candid footage of the orchestra in Richard Durrant's studio for the making of the album "The Secret of Life". This documentary features, Dave, Peter, Hester, George, Kitty, Will and Jonty. Richie, though performing at the start of the Orchestra's career, was taking time off for good behaviour, working with "Three Men and a Bass" at the time. Leisa was our reserve for around a decade and then stepped in full time when Kitty became unable to tour. Ben had not yet joined in 2003. We see quite a bit of Kitty and George, the founders of the orchestra in this footage. This is an interesting glimpse of Ukulele Orchestra activities around twenty years ago. We see the genesis of Cakes and Buns and Sausage Rolls, Lenin on a Lamppost, Only Ewe, George's Duck Voice and a lot of innocent back-stage craziness.
