S'abonner à la chaine du Labo Nico: 🤍 _ UPDATE 09/2023: Je viens de sortir un album avec mon groupe 🤍NIIL_MUSIK dont certaines influences viennent de ce style qui a forcement marqué ma vie😎😁. Pour le découvrir sur ta plateforme de streaming préférée ⬇️ 🤍 _ Dans cette nouvelle vidéo j'explore un pan entier de l'histoire de la musique des années 90. Je suis née en 1977. Nevermind second album de Nirvana est sortie le 24 septembre 1991. J’avais donc 14 ans quand mes oreilles boutonneuses d’adolescent, Ont entendu pour la première fois smell like teen spirit. A l’époque ma chambre était tapissé de poster d’homme chevelu, au look trop, à la musique trop, à la drogue trop…Bref une espèce de beaucoup trop… 4 accords sauvage, un petit blondinet qui braille dans un gymnase poussiéreux, un batteur bucheron qui va devenir l’un des rockeur les plus influent des 20 dernières années, un solo à 2 à l’heure qui ne fait que reprendre la ligne vocale. C’est ainsi que j’ai croisé Nirvana et que j’ai découvert le grunge. Le grunge, mais c’est quoi le Grunge. Nirvana, à quasiment fait le grunge, en tout cas l’a fait exploser partout. Bon Alors au final qui a inventé le grunge. Avant de parler des groupes et des hommes et des femmes qui les forment et qui ont fabriqué le son grunge dans le fin fond des garages des banlieues triste et brumeuse de Seattle, attardons-nous sur l’histoire du label indépendant C/Z fondé par Chris Hanzsek et Tina Casale. Il sorte en 1986 une compilation de 6 groupes : Deep Six. C’est la première brique du mur grunge : Au menu : The melvins, Soundgarden, The U-men, Malfunkshun, Skin Yard et Green River (green river composé des futurs membres de mudhoney et Pearl Jam). Mais c’est plus vers Le label Sub pop qu’il faut regarder pour expliquer l’émergence du grunge : Sub Pop est créé par : Bruce Pavitt et Jonathan Poneman. Le nom Sub Pop vient d’une émission de radio et d’un fanzine créé au début des années 80 par Bruce Paviit qui s’intéressé à la musique des labels indépendants de l’époque : Subterranean Pop. En 86 Bruce saute le pas et crée son label à lui en raccourci cant Subterranean en sub, Il produit lui aussi une compilation sensé dévoiler la musique indépendante du moment : Sub Pop 100 On y trouve un groupe comme Sonic Youth et un certain Steve Albini dont on reparlera plus loin. Un jour Jack Endino ingé son et guitariste de skin yard (l’un des groupes de la compil dont on a parlé au début) reçoit un coup de fil d’un certain Kurt Cobain au studio. 30 heures et 600 dollars plus loin le premier album de Nirvana était en boite. Bleach. Un pur concentré de rugosité A cette époque Nirvana est un trio composé de Kurt Cobain à guitare et à la voix, de Krist Novoselic à la basse et de Chad Chaning à la batterie. Chez Sub Pop ils aiment beaucoup Bleach et décident de signer le groupe. Du coup nos deux compères remettent cela avec la très logique compilation Sub Pop 200. Qui sort en 1988. Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Green River et les Screaming Trees font partie de la sélection. De 1989 à 1991 tout ça vivote gentiment. Soundgarden sort l’album Ultramega OK et commence à tourner avec les guns n roses et faith no more. Des groupes comme alice in chains commencent à émerger, Pearl jam aussi prend de plus en plus d’ampleur. Bref on commence à lorgner vers ce qu’on commence à appeler la scène de Seatle. Tout ça aurait pu retomber comme un petit soufflé local. Revenons à Nirvana. Qui se cherche et tente d’enregistrer un second album grâce à l’aide du producteur Butch Vig (qui est aussi le guitariste du groupe Garbage au passage). Mais ça ne colle pas surtout avec Chad qui quitte le groupe. S’en suit une tournée dans l’ouest américain en agréable compagnie des Sonic Youth avec l’aide de Dale Crover, batteur des Melvins derrière les futs, puisque Nirvana n’a toujours pas trouvé de chaussure à son charley. Kurt et Krist se plaigne du manque d’ambition du label sub pop. Par l’intermédiaire de Susan Silver, manageuse de Soudgarden et sous la recommandation de Kim Gordon des Sonic Youth, Nirvana signe chez Geffen. DGC Records pour David Geffen Compagny. Tout ce petit monde part alors à los Angeles et s’enferme pour enregistrer le second album du trio : Nevermind. Ils embarquent quand même Butch Vig et Andy Walacce pour le mix. L’album Nevermind sort le 10 septembre 1991.Smell like teen spirit est une énorme baffe et devient une immense tube qui booste les ventes de l’album partout dans le monde.
